Syria’s defence ministry declared a ceasefire in Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiyah, and Bani Zaid neighbourhoods of Aleppo after clashes between the army and Kurdish Forces. The clashes, which began on 06 January, have led to at least 21 casualties and caused thousands of civilians to flee. The Syrian government and Kurdish authorities have remained at odds regarding the latter’s integration into the central government. The defence ministry asked the Kurdish forces to leave the area by 0900 hours local time but later extended the deadline.
