Venezuelan President Maduro to Appear in US Court
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is expected to appear in the US Federal Court on 05 January, following his extradition by US forces during a military operation on 03 January. President Madura is awaiting trial for several federal criminal charges filed in 2020, including narco-terrorism and cocaine importation conspiracy. The sudden military operation by the United States has heightened regional tensions and created a political vacuum in Venezuela. Vice President Delcy Rodríguez was appointed as the interim president and has offered to collaborate and maintain considerate relations with the US.
