Protests over the rising cost of living and economic crisis continued for the fifth day in Iran, with several clashes occurring between protestors and security forces. The civil unrest has reportedly caused at least six casualties, including two in Lordegan, three in Azna, and one in Kouhdasht. The protests began on 28 December 2025 amid a sharp fall in the value of the Iranian currency against the US dollar. Heightened security measures are in place in several areas of Tehran, which are likely to remain in place until the situation de-escalates. The restrictions may also be imposed in areas where clashes occurred.
