Nigeria: Five Casualties after Bomb Blast in Borno
A bomb explosion targeting a mosque in Maiduguri, capital of the north-eastern Borno state, has led to at least five casualties and injuries to around 35 people. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack comes amid heightened concerns of insurgent attacks by the militant Islamist group Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Nigeria’s northeast. Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has urged heightened security measures in places of worship and public spaces during the festive season. Authorities have begun investigations into the attack.
