Supporters of the ruling Liberty and Refoundation Party (Libre) protested across Honduras to demand a re-election. The presidential election, which was held on 30 November, has faced widespread allegations of irregularities. As of 09 December, 99 percent of ballots were counted, indicating a lead for Nasry Asfura of the National Party. However, the Libre party has stated that their own national tally shows Salvador Nasralla of the Liberal party as the victor. The political crisis escalated after a segment of the electoral panel announced that they would not ratify the provisional presidential election results. The ongoing instability could delay parliamentary decisions and trigger security and operational disruptions for businesses.
