Greece: Flights Suspended at Crete Airport due to Protesting Farmers

Flights Suspended at Crete Airport
Flight operations were suspended at Greece’s Crete Airport on 08 December after several farmers forced their way onto the airfield. Clashes also occurred between the protesters and police near the airport in Chania, with reports of rock pelting and the use of tear gas. Farmers have been protesting for the past few weeks over the delayed payment of EU subsidies amid a corruption investigation involving the subsidies. Additionally, farmers continue blocking border crossings and several highways, leading to significant transport and supply chain disruptions.
