China’s President Xi Jinping and France’s President Emmanuel Macron pledged to enhance cooperation on global crises and strengthen bilateral trade and economic ties during high-level talks in Beijing. The leaders signed several deals related to energy, agriculture, education, and the environment, and are expected to work towards a framework that would allow increased Chinese direct investment in Europe. President Xi also called for increased collaboration in aerospace, nuclear energy, digital economy, biopharmaceutical and artificial intelligence sectors.
