Two National Guards Injured in Shooting Near White House
Two National Guard members are in critical condition after a shooting near the White House in Washington, D.C. on 26 November. The suspect, initially identified as an Afghan national, was subdued and taken into custody after an exchange of gunfire. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has stated it would initially investigate the shooting as a possible act of terrorism. Following the incident, President Trump’s administration has requested for 500 additional National Guard troops to be deployed in Washington, D.C.
