Indonesia: Landslides and Floodings Cause At Least 10 Casualties in North Sumatra
Over the past few days, torrential rainfall in various regions of North Sumatra, including Sibolga, North Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, and South Tapanuli, has caused widespread flooding and multiple landslides. The natural disasters have forced more than 2,390 families to evacuate and caused at least 10 casualties. Rescue efforts are ongoing but are significantly hindered due to several inter-regional roads being blocked by landslide debris. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) have warned of the possibility of additional disasters due to persistent rainfall and advised residents to remain alert and evacuate when necessary.
