On 14 November, South Korea and the United States released the details of a trade deal that was agreed upon in October, following a meeting between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and US President Donald Trump. The agreement involves South Korea forming a new partnership with the US on shipbuilding, artificial intelligence, and the nuclear industry. Additionally, the US will decrease the tariffs imposed on South Korean products from 25 percent to 15 percent. The deal also includes the US approving South Korea’s plan to develop and build nuclear-powered attack submarines, which significantly enhances South Korea’s military capabilities and deepens the bilateral security alliance.
