An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated in the Sultani area of the Kurram tribal district in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, targeting a security forces convoy. The blast, which occurred near Dogar, killed at least six soldiers. Following the IED attack, a gunbattle ensued, resulting in the death of seven terrorists. The Kurram district is a restive area bordering Afghanistan and has seen a surge in militant violence, particularly since the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) breach of ceasefire in 2022. This incident highlights persistent security threats to military and critical infrastructure in Pakistan’s northwest region.
