On 02 October, a terrorist drove a vehicle into the grounds of a synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. He then stabbed worshippers, leaving two dead and three injured. Police named the attacker as Jihad Al-Shamie, 35, a British citizen of Syrian descent. The attack, consistent with lone-wolf terrorism patterns, drew widespread condemnation across the political spectrum. Prime Minister Keir Starmer told the Jewish community he will do everything in his power to provide “the security you deserve.”
