From 29 September, protests in Pakistan-administered Kashmir have brought Muzaffarabad and surrounding districts to a standstill. On 01 October, violent clashes left 12 dead and over 100 injured as security forces confronted demonstrators. Led by the Joint Awami Action Committee, the unrest is driven by long-standing demands for economic subsidies, lower electricity tariffs, and political reforms. Operations are severely disrupted by road blockages and a complete suspension of mobile and internet services. On 02 October, Pakistan’s Prime Minister called for peaceful protests and urged police to show restraint.
