Tropical Storm Tapah in China
On 08 September, Tropical Storm Tapah made landfall in southern China after causing significant disruption in Hong Kong. The storm, which brought gale-force winds and heavy rain, led to the evacuation of tens of thousands of people in southern China, particularly in coastal areas of Guangdong province. In Hong Kong, the third-highest typhoon signal was raised, forcing schools and most businesses to close and suspending public transportation. The storm also caused ferry service suspensions and flight cancellations in Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hong Kong. Chinese officials have warned of potential flooding due to swollen rivers and have opened emergency shelters.
