The E3 nations (Germany, France, and the UK) are expected to trigger the UN “snapback” mechanism to reimpose sanctions on Iran on 28 August. The move comes after Tehran missed a deadline to resume talks with the US and cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). While the IAEA confirmed that its inspectors were in Tehran on 26 August, at the Bushehr nuclear plant, full access to damaged enrichment facilities remains uncertain. Iran suspended cooperation with the agency following the war with Israel in June. It has rejected the legality of the move and threatened consequences, raising tensions and posing risks for security and operations.
