Typhoon No. 12 Develops Near Japan
The Japan Meteorological Agency has reported that a tropical depression has developed into Typhoon No. 12 near Kagoshima Prefecture on 21 August. The typhoon is moving slowly northeast, and a linear rain band is expected to form, increasing the risk of landslides and other disasters. Authorities have already issued a Level 4 evacuation order for 1,401 people in the Shimo-Koshiki area of Satsumasendai City. Heavy rainfall has also briefly suspended the Kyushu Shinkansen, causing ongoing delays.
