Client: Technology Park Operator
Location: Hyderabad, Telangana, India

The Challenge

Located in the heart of Hyderabad’s IT corridor, the tech park housed multiple global tenants including cloud service providers, financial tech firms, and data analytics companies. The 10-acre park featured several access points for employees, vendors, and visitors, as well as underground parking and logistics loading bays.

A routine audit flagged that the site was vulnerable to high-speed vehicle intrusions, especially via rear service roads and employee entry ramps. With increasing regional alerts about VBIED (Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device) threats and lone-wolf attacks, the park management sought expert help to quantify risks and redesign physical security based on actual vehicle behaviour.

Our Approach

MitKat was engaged to perform a comprehensive Vehicle Dynamics Assessment (VDA) across the campus, integrating threat simulation with architectural and operational review.

The scope included:

  • Mapping of entry/exit geometry, speed potential, and sightlines
  • Profiling of threat vehicles (sedans, delivery vans, LCVs)
  • Simulation of attack vectors using CAD overlays and vehicle trajectory modelling
  • Barrier response-time analysis and spacing validation
  • Evaluation of blind spots, tailgating vulnerabilities, and parking layout impact

Findings and Recommendations

The Vehicle Dynamics Assessment (VDA) revealed several critical insights:

  • The basement parking access ramp could be exploited to bypass surface-level screening
  • Certain side lanes offered long, unbroken straight runs that allowed dangerous acceleration
  • Existing speed breakers and boom barriers were ineffective against larger vehicles
  • Emergency egress routes overlapped with potential hostile approach paths

MitKat recommended:

  • Re-engineering approach lanes using serpentine patterns
  • Installing retractable bollards with automatic activation tied to LPR and velocity sensors
  • Redesigning the basement access route with crash-rated speed gates
  • Relocating critical checkpoints based on VDA-validated reaction windows
  • Updating incident response protocols with real-time vehicle behaviour triggers

The Outcome

  • Reduced high-risk approach speeds by up to 55%
  • Strengthened deterrence against hostile vehicular entry without disrupting daily operations
  • Gained management and tenant confidence through proactive security design
  • Integrated VDA metrics into long-term campus redevelopment plans

MitKat’s Vehicle Dynamics Assessment (VDA) led risk advisory enabled a leading Hyderabad tech park to convert vehicular vulnerabilities into controlled design interventions, balancing operational fluidity with high-impact physical security across a dynamic, multi-tenant environment.
