Ukraine’s Thermal Power Plants Fail After Russian Strikes

Multiple Russian missile and drone strikes overnight into 09 November damaged Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, with the state power company reporting generation capacity has fallen to “zero.” Major producer Centerenergo confirmed its thermal power generation capacity was exhausted, following repeated targeting of recently restored facilities. This critical infrastructure destruction across Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv has led to widespread, multi-hour scheduled power and heating cuts, raising severe fears of a heating crisis as winter approaches.
